Former mayor sentenced to imprisonment

LUSHNJE, March 24 – The former mayor of Lushnja, Ylli Myftiu, was sentenced to six month imprisonment for abuse of his post.

Myftiu had created a private soccer club while he served as the city’s mayor. He was accused of selling tickets with abusive prices. The soccer club is also under investigation.

Myftiu served as mayor from 2001-2004 and was elected after defeating the governing Socialist Party, now in opposition.
