TIRANA, Oct 20 – The government has said that damages caused by the Gerdec blast in March 15 reached 37.6 million Euros.
That damage estimate was revealed in a document that the cabinet presented to the European Union, where it hopes to become a member in the future.
The blast killed 26 people and injured 300 others.
The report also said that some 10,000 people were directly affected and 4,000 others were evacuated from the area.
Damage compensations, to be paid by the government, was estimated at 2.755 billion leks and only 17 percent of that was provided by donations from different companies, international institutions and also individuals.
The total figure of the damage was estimated at 4.61 billion leks, or 37.6 million Euros.
