The new artistic season of the National Theater kicks off with Mihal Luarasi’s drama “Antigona searches her father” on September 25th-27th.
The theme of this play was picked from the tragic events of imprisonments and unfair trials against oil engineers during the communist regime. Just like Homer’s heroine, Antigona undertakes a painful and difficult mission in search of her fathers’ bones, who was one of the six thousand persons killed at the time. Through these efforts, she discovers the unfairness of the trials, the inhuman treatment of the innocent defendants; she faces the cynical resistance of the old structures that still have a hold on the juridical system. Antigona also interacts with different “guilty” innocent soldiers who were only obeying the orders they were given.
