Fifty works including paintings and embroidery were presented at National History Museum
Women sentenced to imprisonment in the institution of executions of criminal decisions “Ali Demi” in Tirana have opened up an exhibition of different artistic works, taking place at the National History Museum. The event was themed “Without borders” and featured some fifty works in paintings and embroidery. “Through their art, these women managed to escape the borders that are separating them from the free world outside their cells. With their artistic works they express and live whatever they want, just like the others”, said Irena Key, director of the IEVP. These women have attended a 6 months course under the guidance of painter Rivelina Temo. The course, developed in the form of art therapy, was conducted within the activities of the project “Art in prison”, enabled by “P쳴hyerja” association. The exhibition marked the closing event of this project, whose primary aim was to improve the social life of sentenced women.
