The Czech Republic capital dedicated one week to the Albanian cinematography. Five Albanian movies – “Concert in 1936” by Saimir Kumbaro, “Mrs Sneider’s sorrow” by Piro Milkani, “Slogans” by Gjergj Xhuvani and “Mao Ce Dun by Besnik Bisha and “Alive” by Artan Minarolli- were screened at the premises of the Czech Film Archive. Piro Milkani says that the activity was made possible through the cooperation between the Film Archive of the two countries and the Albanian Embassy in Czech Republic, where a leaflet about a short history of the Albanian cinematography was written by Milkani. The movies, mostly post- 90s productions were followed by a number of film critiques. The participants engaged in discussions after every movie was shown. Most questions had to do with the direction and realisation of movies during the communist regime and the situation of the Albanian cinema nowadays. The movies were not quite foreign to the Czech audience, since previously they have been screened to the important film festival “Karlovy Vary”.
