Durres port becomes art venue for one day

Durres, June 20 – Durers Port, the country’s biggest, hosted last weekend a multicultural event called Open Port Art opening its doors to the public and offering art and musical performances.
Transport Minister Sokol Olldashi and the director of Durres Port Authority attended the event, which brought modern and contemporary dance performances, a pop and rock music concert, a visual arts exhibition by 15 Albanian and foreign artists.
An exhibition featuring the development of Durers Port was also displayed.
“The opening of the port in the context of contemporary art brings the experience of the arrival of this art in Albania through Albania’s main port,” said the Durres Port Authority in a statement.
The opening of the port to an event of such dimensions opens another communication form through the artistic and economic performance conveying new communication spaces of the art-public-economy communication, officials added.
The event, which for the first time opened doors to all citizens, lasted until the early hours of Sunday.
