TIRANA, July 5 – Albania’s government expressed concern this week about the three Albanians injured in an attack in Greece.
The serious incident occurred last weekend in the Greek town of Agrinio, nearly 330 kilometers from Athens, when some armed and masked persons assaulted a restaurant, where three buses of the Athens – Tirana line had stopped for a break.
According to police, as a result of this attack, three Albanian citizens were injured — Efimi Bika, 65, from P쳭et, Vangjel Stavro, 15, born in Athens, and Soni Hodaj, 28, born in Fier.
Vangjel Stavro and Soni Hodaj were slightly injured and left the hospital soon after the incident, while Efimi Bika underwent immediate surgical intervention and her situation was stable, according to Albania’s foreign ministry.
Once the Albanian embassy in Athens and the General Consulate in Ioannina received the information, they followed up on the situation, being in ongoing contact with the police and hospital authorities in Agrinio.
The Albanian Foreign Ministry urged Greek authorities to uncover the motives of this grave incident as well as to identify and punish the perpetrators.
