Bogdani’s star rises

TIRANA, Sep. 20 – Erjon Bogdani started his new football season well as he scored in two decisive matches which have kept his Cesena side on top of the Italian championship.
His performance has been the talk of the Italian media. After three weeks of the new season, Serie A has a shock leader in tiny little Cesena.
Cesena, playing in only their eleventh Serie A championship and first for 19 years – having participated in the Lega Pro two years ago — are currently top of the table at the end of week three.
In the center of their attack is the veteran Albania journeyman Erjon Bogdani, writes Media goal on its Web site. The 33-year-old has been a tower of power in leading the line, hitting the winner yesterday and scoring one and making the other for Giaccherini against Milan. Bogdani has been a major surprise thus far, although it is questionable if he can keep this form up as he scored just 17 goals in his last five seasons prior to this one.
