BRUSSELS, Belgium, Feb. 8 – NATO Secretary-General Anders Fogh Rasmussen urged Albanian political leaders to stick to the democratic values of the Alliance.
Speaking at a monthly news conference Monday he responded to a question on the tiny Balkan country’s recent unrest.
“I strongly condemn violence and I urge all parties to seek peaceful solutions to political dispute,” Rasmussen said.
Asked to comment on the situation from his position as a former prime minister of Denmark, he said that it is crucial for small countries to reach consensus on major political issues.
He also said that in his country no one would have died in a protest.
