Shkodra to host 3rd animated film festival

TIRANA, August 1- Animated films from 44 countries around the world will be competing in the third edition of the AniFest Rozafa 2012 international festival in the city of Shkodra, northern Albania next September. The official programme includes animated films created by students, animated films targeting adults, animated films addressed to children. Half of the programme scheduled for September 23 to 30 will be held as open air screening of participating films in the Kol Idromeno pedestrian street, organizers say.
AniFestROZAFA, the only event of this kind in Albania, is an international competitive and festive event and festival by children and for children. The event includes trainings, seminars, workshops and the international festival of animated films made by children and for children.
AniFestROZAFA is also the synonym of a meeting place for the Albanian and foreign artists, and an additional opportunity to get to know with the history of this place, that is rich in legends and monuments.
The festival is supported by the Culture Ministry, the Shkodra Municipality and the National Cinematography Centre.
The history of Albanian animation dates back to 1975. Some 200 animated films, most of which during the country’s communist regime, have been produced since then.
