TIRANA, April 24 – Thirty large size paintings by painter and deputy Culture Minister Abaz Hado were featured this week at the National Museum of History showcasing the tragedy of Cham community which was expelled from their homes in Greece just before World War II. The exhibition called “Our Chameria” brought moments of tragedy of the Cham of community and pictures of Cham-inhabited areas in present Greece. The exhibition will also open in several Albanian towns.
Hado, a painter, art critic, known for his graph and paintings works has opened ten solo exhibitions so far. He was appointed deputy Culture Minister in March 2012 as a proposal by the Party for Justice, Integration and Unity, a ruling coalition party supporting the Cham question. Since the early 1990s, the Cham population in Albania has been demanding the return of their property in Greece which was seized after their expulsion.
