TIRANA, May 22 – If you never ever thought of Germany in the context of boogie-woogie and blues music, you might be in for a big surprise. German pianist Axel Zwingenberger and blues singer Vince Weber known as “The Boogiemeisters” will be performing in Albania for the first time. For more than 40 years they have explored the hottest sound worlds in the realm of the black & white keys. Their musical journey has led them from smoky jazz clubs to big concert halls.
Boogie-woogie is the vibrant, danceable form of blues music. This popular music form has its origins in the black communities of the Southern United States and was born more than 100 years ago when African rhythms were combined with European harmony and instruments.
The duo will be performing in Albania on May 27 at the University of Arts in Tirana and May 28 at the Migjeni theatre in the northern town of Shkodra.
