TIRANA, June 3 – With financial support by the Austrian Development Agency (ADA) and the Bushat commune, the museum house of Albanian classical poet Ndre Mjeda in Kukel village, northern Albania, is being restored. The Renaissance poet’s house is part of the Ndre Mjeda museum complex whose restoration started three years ago.
Martin Ledotler of the Austrian Development Agency told VoA in the local Albanian service that the restoration of Mjeda’s house is part of a mosaic to contribute to the development of tourism in this area.
Back in 2012, Renaissance poet Ndre Mjeda was honoured with a statue in his home village of Kukel, in the northern Albanian district of Shkodra. The statue placed in front of Mjeda’s house and the parish where he served was unveiled on the poet’s 75th birth anniversary as part of events commemorating the 100th anniversary of Albania’s independence.
Classical poet Ndre Mjeda (1866-1937) bridges the gap between late nineteenth-century Renaissance culture and the dynamic literary creativity of the independence period.
