TIRANA, June 10 – Albanian environment officials said they have started a project on the rehabilitation of the environment in the northern Lura Park.
The park has been seriously damaged in post-communist years with many trees cut and no one taking care of the seven lakes there, considered as one of the country’s pearls and points of tourist attraction.
Authorities said that within a year two companies will rehabilitate the entire infrastructure linking the area with the park and also clean up the lakes. Following that they will also plant up to two million trees in the 300 hectare area.
They also said that other money is being spent for the rehabilitation of other national parks around the country.
