TIRANA, Oct. 7- A well-known photography competition called ‘’Colours of Albania’’ for Albania’s touristic promotion and appreciation collected 35 thousand pictures in its 2018 edition. The publication happened during the last six months, while the announcement of the winners was hosted at the Rozafa castle of Shkoder.

Shkoder is the first city in Albania where the art of photography took place, thanks to Pjeter Marubi, the first Albanian photographer, who has also left our nation an heritage of the art through the lines of his family. The Marubi National Museum of Photography has a collection of various pictures taken through decades in Albania, starting from the end of the 19th century.

This year’s theme for Colours of Albania was ‘cultural heritage and European affiliation’ which coincides with European Union’s leitmotif.

Since its announcement, citizens started taking pictures from various places in Albania and advocating for our country’s natural treasures by exposing its beauty. They revealed material and immaterial heritage, the conservation of this heritage as a way of preserving the identity, and as value added to the continent in which we live.

This year the colours of Albania were seen in 35 thousand pictures, and we expect another edition next year. At Shkoder’s event was an exhibition of the best 40 photographs, music from artist Shpat Deda and various traditional products. The jury also announced Erisa Shaba as a winner with her fields with meadows in Koplik.

Amongst the visitors the events was also attended by various diplomats, national and local political bodies. An appreciation was given by Luigi Soreca, EU Ambassador to Albania, who said that the union supports this event for showing the world the best and most beautiful side of Albania and what it has to offer.

Ditmir Bushati, Minister of Foreign Affairs, said that the cultural component helps in reconnecting with the European values and civilization. The Minister of Tourism Blendi Klosi on the other hand, thanked Bushati for the smart choices in Albania’s cultural promotions, especially for choosing Shkoder for this event.

‘’Thank you to all our supporters. The more of these events the more better things for our society, and the more brighter and prosperous it will become,’’ said Bushati.
