TIRANA, March 27, 2023 - Albania will begin their quest for a spot in the 2024 European Championship against Poland in Warsaw on Monday, hoping to break their seven-game losing streak against the hosts.
The Red and Blacks will have their first match under Brazilian coach Sylvinho, who aims to start their campaign on a positive note.
On the other side, newly-appointed Poland coach Fernando Santos missed out on a winning start to his tenure after his team succumbed to a 3-1 defeat to the Czech Republic in Friday's Group E opener.
Meanwhile, Albania will look to put their disappointing showing in last year's UEFA Nations League behind them, having only garnered two points from four League B matches.
However, Sylvinho's team may show some rustiness, as their last match occurred in November, when they snapped a nine-game winless streak in friendlies with a 2-0 victory over Armenia.
Albania has also failed to win their last five away matches across all competitions, drawing twice and losing three times since their 1-0 win over Hungary in October 2021.
