The National Medieval Arts Museum possesses a huge fund of icons and other related objects. There are at least seven thousand objects including icons, codices, sculptures, works in stone, gold, fabric etc. This entire fund will be moved into a new premises designed to have all the amenities and suitable environments to preserve, exhibit and restore these works and objects. Work has begun to build the new wing of the National Medieval Arts Museum in Korca so that all these funds can be eventually moved out of the environments of the “Spring of Life” Church, property of the Metropolis of Korca. These venues, on which the old Cathedral of Korca once stood, will be returned to the Church. This will also bring to a close all the debates over the past two years as to who owned this object. Apart from many galleries and exhibition halls, where the objects of this fund will be exhibited, there will also be work shops and laboratories for research and restoration. The project, initiated one year ago by the Municipality, has started out with this 480 thousand Euro contribution from Selenic Aid. This is one of the biggest projects in the sector of culture and will also stimulate tourism.
