MILANO, March.15- ABSOLUTE BEGINNERS is a series of video presentation that launched the works of four Albanian artists: Jakup Ferri, Armand Lulaj, Anri Sala and Fani Zguro. Organized in the ambiances of the contemporary arts museum ISOLA ART CENTER in Milano (Italy), the event is inspired form that moment in which the artists sis still trying to explore his talent and establish his inspiration.
Experimental techniques are included in the video presentation of the young Kosovar artist Jakup Ferri with the video “Don’t tell anybody.” The work has been done through 2002-2005 and explores his inner feelings with a healthy does of self-irony. In the video the artist counts 1 kilogram of rice, separating every grain. In the next work, “Three virgins”, Ferri participates virtually in a duo song with John Lennon and Yoko Ono. In the video “An artist who speaks no English is no artist”, Ferri uses an amateur English to reflect upon a similar work done by a Croatian artist Mladen Stilinovic.
The artist Armand Lulaj presented his video “Walking free in harmony”, realized while he was a student in the Florence Arts Academy. He has been a regular participant in the Biennales of Prague, Venice, Tirana, etc.
Anri Sala presented his first video “Avec Marubi” exploring the photography cult with two north Albanin woman practicing their tailor craft in the context of the French author Manet, “Le Dejeuner sur l’herbe”. At the end Manet’s model walks out of the painting wearing the traditional costume of the women.
The last author is Fani Zguro with his video from 2004, called “Fotogramma” and realized in Tirana. “Fotogramma” explores the quiet night in a small alley. It s a very short video that progresses while slowing down and eliminating the audio effects gradually. “Fotogramma” belongs to the novel genre of nocturnal videos.
