Albanian cartoonist Agim Sulaj has won another international competition. He was awarded the first prize for his creation on the theme of “Globalization, social exclusion and solidarity” competition organized by Spain’s Santomera Municipality earlier this month.
Sulaj’s cartoon featured a flag reading Globalization but torn apart by a homeless person who wraps himself up with it sleeping on the street.
Sulaj’s winning cartoon will be on display along with some other cartoons at the Casa Grande galley from March 29 to April 30, said the exhibition’s organizers on their website. Some 288 works by 171 artists from 42 countries were displayed in the graphic humor competition.
Born in 1960 in Tirana, Sulaj is a winner of dozens of national and international cartoon competitions. He has also participated in many international painting exhibitions.
Since the early 90s, he has been living and working in Italy.
