TIRANA, Feb. 26 – Albanian Prosecutor-General Ina Rama hinted Tuesday during an interview with the Voice of America that some of the country’s politicians have links to organized crime.
Rama also called on politicians to strip public officials of their legal immunity and be legally available if any investigation of them is carried out.
Rama said criminal organizations have tried to gain ground with links in political circles.
“I believe politics has been put into the service of [organized crime networks],” said Rama, adding that several high public officials were currently being investigated on charges of corruption.
