It’s only two months since Professor Ramadan Sokoli passed away and the “International Union of Folklore Associations,” has accorded him posthumous the award, “World Folklore Oscar.” On 9,10 and 11 May, in the Italian city of Foggia this institution organized the activity of “World Folklore Oscar.” This activity included performances by different folklore groups; scientific talks on folklore, excursions to locations of historical interest, fairs, film screenings, and exhibitions of regional products etc. The activities ended with the official presentation of the “National Anthem of Folklore” and with the presentation of the highest award going in the field, “Oscar for Folklore 2008.” With Professor Ramadan Sokoli also being nominated and winning this award, those present said this was also in recognition of the vivid folklore of Albania.
