DURRES, May 7 – Albanian
violin player Florian Vlashi has
been away from his homeland
in the last 16 years but that has
not hampered him to introduce
his country’s music and composers
to the world. Last month
Vlashi, 44, played in
Pontevedras, Spain works from
Albanian composer Feim
Ibrahimi and those from Kosova
Rafet Rudi and Gjon Gjekvelaj.
He had titled his concert “Music
from the Balkans” held together
with instrumental Albana
Karaj. Vlashi will continue his
concerts and presentations in
other areas in Spain this month
and also in Kosova. Vlashi
heads the Shekulli XX (Century
XX) ensemble with some 16
instrumentals from many countries.
This group has played in
12 concerts in Spain during the
last year. (Tirana Times Staff)
