Albania’s zero tolerance fight against crime

TIRANA, May 18 – Albanian Deputy Interior Minister, Genti Strazimiri, outlined the government’s zero tolerance campaign against corruption and organized crime at the Crans Montana Forum held in Tirana. Strazimiri also spoke about the preparation of the civil register and legislative reforms in Albania.
Strazimiri noted that results in the fight against corruption and organized crime during the first quarter of this year were higher than results last year, explaining how authorities had increased its resources focused on prosecuting these criminals. Strazimiri also said that Tirana was pleased to announce that the country was no longer a transit point for drug trafficking. Police cooperation with other countries including Italy, Germany, and Britain was reported to have played an important role in advances in the country’s police work.
