TIRANA, April 5-6: The regional Festival “Art against stereotypes” took place in Tirana at the International centre of Culture ‘Pjeter Arbnori’.
The Festival was organized by the Council of Europe in cooperation with the European Commission and the Ministry of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Sports of Albania and the International Centre of Culture, within the framework of campaign ‘Dosta!: Go beyond prejudice, discover the Roma’, a public awareness and communication campaign aiming at breaking the barriers of prejudices and stereotypes by promoting a more positive image of Roma through a better understanding of Roma culture and identity.
The “Dosta!” Public awareness campaign, implemented in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Montenegro, and the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia is developed around two main axes: respect of Roma human and citizenship rights, and recognition of the contribution of Roma culture to European cultural heritage. This Balkan event presented a lively atmosphere of Roma culture and traditions brought with art and love by local and regional representatives from the Roma community.
