The curtain is expected to rise on the two-act opera “Barber of Seville” on 18 June at the National Opera and Ballet Theatre. This opera by Giaochino Rossini is another wonderful addition to the season of a wealth of artistic activities put on by the Albanian Opera House. Rossini’s opera with its libretto by Cesare Sterbini will be produced for the first time for the Albanian public. Production will be rendered by Nikolin Gurakuqi, stage production Genc Shkodrani, costumes by Anila Zajmi, choir conductor is Dritan Lumshi ass/conductor Simone Lutti, Concert Master Vittorio Parisi. Other well known names will also be added to the bill boards who are renown for their performances on local and world stages. The soloists Francesco Panni, Ergys Mita, Simone D’Eusanio, Kreshnik Zhabjaku and Aleksander Stefanoski have been invited to perform. The finest artists and performers of the Albanian Opera and Ballet Theatre will also be performing in this premiere on 18 June. Producer Nikolin Gurakuqi tackles this next challenge of bringing Barber of Seville to the Albanian stage straight after his success with the premiere of Trovatore. This was warmly applauded by the audiences of Tirana. About one year ago he produced “Aida” on the Albanian stage with 350 Albanian and foreign artists.
