TIRANA, Oct. 1 – Helen Cristina Alves Da Silva of Brazil was crowned Miss Globe International 2007, emerging first among 42 contestants in the beauty pageant held in the Albanian capital.
An ever-smiling Da Silva is 18 years old, with brown hair and eyes, 174 cm tall and 58 kilograms of weight, with 90, 55 and 89 measures (bust, waist, hip).
She also was awarded the Talent for Dancing Prize earlier in a contest in the southwestern port city of Vlora. Dancing is one of her hobbies.
“I was nervous at the beginning and during all the time I didn’t think the prize would be mine. It was a great surprise and I feel very happy,” said Da Silva.
Besides studying, Da Silva also works as a model in different fashion shows.
During the show, the contestants paraded in their bikinis, switched to their national costumes and evening dresses.
This year, the 34th pageant of Miss Globe International, took place in the capital of Albania, Tirana, in the Palace of Congresses on October 1.
The pageant marked the 34th Miss Globe contest and the fourth held in Albania so far.
It was organized by Albania’s Deliart Association under a license from Charlie See, a U.S. citizen from Las Vegas who oversees 22 beauty contests worldwide. Deliart Association has a license to hold the contest until 2009.
Albania has hosted the pageant for the first time at an amphitheater built in A.D. 200 in the Albanian port city of Durres.
Albania, a former communist country which was isolated for 50 years until the early 1990s, also hosted the 1996 Miss Europe pageant.
This year the MGI 2007 program was filled with trips and visits to the beautiful places of Northern Albania, with marvelous nature between mountains, with rare historical places such as Lezha, Shkodra, Koman lake, Drin cascade, Valbona river, and for the first time with visits in three cities of Kosova, near to the Northern Albanian border.
