TIRANA, Jan. 9 – Following the recent renewal of efforts on the part of the majority and the opposition to co-operate on key electoral and justice reforms, the Head of Central Elections Committee Ȭirim Gjata made another public appeal to all political forces in the country on the need for the completion of electoral reform within summer 2008. To aid the political parties on their way of materializing their recent public declaration into actual political action, Gjata recommended that the political actors consider in their implementation of electoral reforms the following:
the reduction in the number of commissioners in the electoral commissions,
the re-examination of the process of appealing final voting results and
the modification of the way in which candidates’ lists are drawn by local authorities.
