TIRANA, Jan.16- A rich calendar of events will color the cultural life of the capital, where the main institutions including the National Theater, the Gallery of Arts and the National Museum will host several performances in different genres of art. At the end of next week the National Theater is hosting a return engagement of the most successful performance of the year, “A View From The Bridge” by well-known American playwright Arthur Miller. It will be performed by famed Timo Flloko under the direction of Albert Minga. The play was brought back due to the overwhelming demand, explains head of the theater Kristaq Skrami.

Another drama will be the premiere of “Dusk Bells” directed by Alfred Bualioti and Anton Qesari as well as the play “Franc V” directed by Arben Kumbaro.

The Theater of Opera and Ballet will schedule eight gala concerts beginning January 18 in collaboration with the Folklore Ensemble. The series of concerts will last until the end of February. This is the 55th anniversary of the institution, and the theme for the series is called Puccini’s remembrance year.

The Gallery of Arts will have new events in February when Tirana will host, for the second time, the prestigious display of “World Press Photo”. The international photo competition, ‘Marubi’, will return in September as well as other annual events such as Onufri in April 2008 and others. Collaborative projects with foreign artists will also be frequent, and exhibitions such as the German “Westphalia” in March and a contemporary exhibition of southeastern European artists and others involving foreign artists, such as Christian Tanhauze, Ritva Luukkannen, and Wim Couvers have been scheduled.

The first event of the National Museum will be, according to its head Beqir Meta, a photo exhibition on the 100th anniversary of the Congress of Manastir. Other events will mark the 80th anniversary of the Albanian kingdom as well as the League of Prizren.
