TIRANA, Feb.26- “The magic of the clarinet” is the second documentary movie of the author Donika Mustafaj, a work that has completed the profile an instrument so beloved in the tradition of Albanian folk music. The clarinet is the story of the coming of a music instrument to Albania its adaptation to the local culture and it passion that it ahs caused many artists to devote lifetime of art to it. The clarinet is used both for celebration and mourning and produces sounds soothing the soul. It was followed by “gerneta” an almost identical version used for isopolifonic music. The documentary brings unprecedented footage and interesting curiosities. The well-known clarinet player Laver Bariu pronounces for the documentary that whenever he plays the clarinet he goes mad and that he never went to stage sober. The movie also features the portraits of other famous clarinet players such as the master of Permet, Remzi Lel쮠and Novruz Nure. The concern that the documentary brings forward is the change of the use of the instrument, that has fallen form the stages onto the mediocre wedding celebrations when it is mixed with foreign cheap music. “The magic of the clarinet” is a production of the Albanian Public Television in the satellite programs department. It is 30 minutes long and with English subtitles. The author thinks it will run in the MonteCarlo Festival.
