Egypt’s Al-Tannoura makes Albania tour

TIRANA, May 5 – The Al-Tannoura Troupe, one of Egypt’s most popular folk groups, was in Albania this week giving several performances in Tirana, Durres and Shkodra. The event started in the Aleksander Moisiu theatre in Durres to continue on Wednesday at the National Theatre of Opera and Ballet in Tirana before the closing performance in the square in front of the Shkodra municipality on Thursday.
The folk group’s arrival in Albania was made possible by the Albanian ministry of Culture in cooperation with the Egyptian and Saudi Arabia embassies.
The Al-Tannoura Troupe is one of the Egyptian folk groups established by the General Organization for Cultural Palaces at Egypt’s Ministry of Culture. The Troupe was formed in 1988 at the Ghury Palace, which specializes in reviving and renovating the inherited artistic and cultural themes that have been endangered or are about to diminish.
The Troupe, which performs three times a week (Saturday, Monday and Wednesday) all year-round in Cairo , has also been taking part in all the national festivals. It has also been to many countries around the world.
Popular and folk musical instruments usually accompany the troupe’s performances, such as rababa, salamia, flute, drums, tambourines and sanjes). These instruments accelerate the dancers ‘ warm up and enlighten the colourful atmosphere of the stage performance.
