In the spotlight of the photographers and the media, the famous Italian singer of the seventies’ Massimo Ranieri has arrived in Tirana, on the invitation of the Albanian Opera and Ballet Theatre to produce “La Traviata” which will be put on soon. The Director of the Ballet and Opera Theatre Zhani Ciko informed the media that when Ranieri realized one of his most successful productions of “La Traviata” in Trieste, he met the two very talented Albanian artists, Inva Mula and Ermonela Jaho. Through contacts Ermonela had, we managed to invite Ranieri to produce La Traviata here, and he accepted.”
“I regret the fact that my introductory visit to Albania is not in the capacity of a singer, as I would have liked, ” Ranieri said to the press on his arrival. “As I have been informed I am known as a singer here and that is such a thrill for me. We are so close that we could almost exchange cups of coffee over the balcony, as an expression of Naples goes. However, I am here as a producer, and I am very honoured to be here because I do know your great traditions, as a country that loves the Opera and that inherits a profound tradition in the field. This is also demonstrated by the fact that I have worked with two of the greatest sopranos in the world today Inva Mula and Ermonela Jaho. During rehearsals in Italy Inva asked me why I had never been to her country because I was so well known and loved there. This really moved and I accepted the first invitation that came my way with great alacrity, and here I am,” Ranieri said. The most famous of the Verdi Operas, “La Traviata” will soon be on the stage of the Tirana Opera and Ballet Theatre, as a co-production of Albanian stars and foreign guests, including Italian artists. This performance has been described by the Directors of the Ballet and Opera Theatre as the surprise of the year, a surprise which began with the arrival in Albania of an early Italian myth Massimo Ranieri.
