Translated by Dorota Horodyska and published by the well-known house Wydawnictwo Czazne, which is ran by one of the leading figures of Polish contemporary literature Andrzej Stasiuk, Fatos Kongoli will be available to Polish readers in their own language. The book “Lekura e qenit” (The skin of the dog) was published by Toena in 2003 and became eventually a best seller with a total of 10.000 copies including the re-editions. The book is the last one in the series entitled by the author, “Prisons of memory”, following other four books. In June of 2006 “Lekura e qenit” was awarded Book of the Month prize in Germany, translated by Joachim Roehm. It has been translated also into French, Italian, Greek, Serbian, etc. Another very well known book of Kongoli is the novel “Te porta e Sh쮠Pjetrit”, (At the gates of St. Peter) which became also a best seller, with 1200 copies only in Tirana in a week. This book was also published in France. Kongoli is part of the elite writers in Albania and has an ongoing commitment with literature. A new book of his is expected in the Albanian libraries soon.
