TIRANA, Feb. 15 – Some of the most traditional jobs people living in Tirana and its suburbs used to do in the early 20th century when the capital city was quite underdeveloped are back in an exhibition at the TEN multi-media centre of the Municipality of Tirana. “The forgotten occupations” exhibition displays 30 photos of the most frequent jobs local traders used to do in the old Tirana bazaar such as leather, iron, handicraft workers, and popular dessert makers.
The exhibition, held in the frame of the 91st anniversary of the declaration of Tirana as Albania’s capital city on February 11, 1920, also features some characteristic cultural heritage objects of Tirana.
Groups of visitors and students also have the opportunity to watch a documentary film on Tirana.
Situated in Myslym Shyri street, the TEN multi media center opened few months ago, as the first of its kind in Albania, offering free afternoon classes in music, dancing, painting and photography to dozens of talented compulsory schoolchildren in Tirana. It was established in the reconstructed premises of the former Dajti cinema in Tirana, which had been abandoned and did not serve as a cinema any longer. The multimedia center is also considered an opportunity for children and teens to socialize under European standards. The “TEN” multifunctional centre has a central hall with a capacity of 130 seats which serves as a venue to screen movies and hold concerts.
Other facilities have also been created for children aged between 3 to 13 to exercise in painting and short theatrical performances.
Modern library, music and visual arts premises have also been made available for talented children. Hundreds of them are already attending afternoon classes.
