Durres, March. 5 – Honoring the first death anniversary of the well-known Albanian painter and sculptor Gavril Priftuli a new arts gallery was opened in Duress that will carry his name as a token of gratitude for the contribution of the artist and his work. The gallery first event was an exhibition of his selected works, more than 30 paintings and 20 sculptures in different techniques and representing different art fields in which the author engaged until his death at the age of 69. Priftuli’s engagement with art extended to his teaching career as an arts professor at the city’s artistic lyceum “Jan Kukuzeli.” Some of Prifutli’s most monumental works include mosaic works in the National Hero Museum of Kruja and the entrance art display at the Martyrs’ Museum of Duress.
