TIRANA, Sept. 25 – Rock concerts, classical music, theatrical performances, exhibitions and many other events will be staged in several cities in Albania during the German October which this year is held under the motto “25 years of economic cooperation.”
“We want to unite and entertain people. The German October has now turned into a fixed tradition in Albania and it is a pleasure that even this year together with our partners we managed to compile such a miscellaneous programme. With these activities we invite Albanian and German to get to know each other better,” said German Ambassador to Albania Helmuth Hoffmann at the presentation of the German Oktober programme.
Berlin rock band Samavayo, Albanian pianist Desar Sulajmani and German soprano Caroline Merz are some of the artists performing in the German October events which opens with an exhibition on the history of electrification in Albania at the National Museum of history on September 27. An exhibition with colour pictures by German Albanologist Wilfried Fiedler took in Albania in the 1950s will also open. Events will continue until November 19 with a series of rock and classical concerts, exhibitions, a beer festival, and scientific conferences.
“25 years economic cooperation” is the theme of this year’s “Deutscher Oktober.” This will give us the opportunity to express our vital interest in intensifying relations between Germany and Albania and also to present a wide range of German contemporary culture. We aim to promote the image of a modern and vibrant Germany by a series of events covering theatre, fine arts, film, music as well as science and politics,” says German Ambassador to Albania Hellmuth Hoffmann. The activities are not limited to Tirana. They will also be staged in other cities, such as Pogradec, Elbasan, Fier and Kor衮
