Germany’s Christiane Hohmann nominated to head EU Delegation to Albania

TIRANA, June 8, 2022 – German diplomat Christiane Hohmann has been nominated as head of the EU Delegation to Albania, according to a statement by the office of Josep Borrell, EU’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy. 

A career diplomat, Hohmann is currently serving as ambassador of Germany to Estonia and formerly served as German ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina. 

Ambassador Hohmann’s nomination was part of a list of 31 heads of delegations announced on Wednesday. 

She will be formally appointed following receipt of respective agreement from the host country, and her term in Tirana is expected to start in February.

Ambassador Hohmann is to replace Italy’s Luigi Soreca, who had been serving as EU ambassador to Tirana since September 2018.
