TIRANA, Aug. 13 – HumanAid, in collaboration with Gjirokastra local authorities, and supported by the Greece-Albania Chamber of Commerce, will hold a two-day cultural festival in Gjirokastra in southern Albania on Aug. 18 and 19.

The festival, the first time it is held in the country, will “build a bridge of friendship and cooperation between the two neighboring peoples due to the joint communication offered by music and culture,” according to a statement.

The two-day event will be held in Dervican commune and Gjirokastra castle.

During the first night, spectators will learn of the traditions and cultural inheritance of the ethnic Greek minority in Albania.

During the second night, well known Greek singer Glykeria is to perform.

In Dervican there will be an exhibition where artists from both sides of the border may present their work.

The festival seeks to become an annual event, said the statement.
