TIRANA, Nov. 9 – The Albanian Eletro-Energy Corporation started to open the main gates of two hydropower stations of the Drini River in northern Albanian following recent heavy rain and fears that the water level could cause another flooding like last winter.
KESH head Engjell Zeqo said they were pouring at the moment about 500 cubic meters of water but feared that rain of these days could oblige them to increase that amount.
Last winter more than 10,000 square hectares of agriculture land were flooded following heavy rain when authorities opened the gates not to let the power dams be destroyed by major capacities of water.
