TIRANA, April 13 – A mono-drama dedicated to Mother Teresa’s teenage years has been selected to represent Albania in the Mono-Act international festival scheduled to be held in the Kosovo town of Peja from April 18 to 22. The monodrama called “Pikellin dhe dashuri” (Grief and Love) will star Albanian young actress Klodiana Kadillari who makes a confession of Mother Teresa’s teenage years from 14 to 18 years old just before young Agnes Gonxhe Bojaxhiu decided to leave her parental home in Skopje and join the Sisters of Loreto, an Irish community of nuns with missions in India.
Actress Klodiana Kadillari had also performed the Mother Teresa role in last year’s youth theatre festival. She has also played the young Mother Teresa role in a documentary by late Kosovo director Fahri Hysaj.
Last year, Albania marked the 100th anniversary of Mother Teresa’s birth anniversary with a series of cultural events.
The world famous nun of Albanian origin was awarded the Nobel Prize for Peace, and in 1985 she received the Medal of Freedom from the United States. She was beatified by Pope John Paul II on 19 October 2003, placing her one step from sainthood in the Catholic faith.
