National Albanian American Council celebrates 10th anniversary

TIRANA, Sept. 6 – The National Albanian American Council (NAAC) will celebrate Friday, Sept. 8 the 10th anniversary of the Albanian American heritage with a dinner where former U.N. envoy to Kosova Soren Jessen-Petersen and Albanian community activist Bruno Selimaj will also be present. Petersen will receive NAAC’s “Hands of Hope Award” for his historic role in enhancing the lives of the Albanian people in the Balkans and for his outstanding contribution toward Kosova’s independence. While Selimaj will receive the “Lifetime Achievement Award” for his unrelenting dedication toward the Albanian cause. Previous honorees include President Bill Clinton, Secretaries of State James Baker and Madeleine Albright, Senator Bob Dole and other dignitaries.
The reception and the dinner will be held at the prestigious Cipriani 42nd Street in New York City. Some of most celebrated names in the Albanian-American culture are expected to attend and perform; adding greater value to a special program that will take place in commemoration of our theme celebrating the Albanian American heritage. Hollywood star Eliza Dushku will make a special appearance leading a host of other personalities gracing the evening with their appearances and/or performances – including: Valbona Coba, model/actress; Mariza Ikonomi, pop singing sensation; Lindita Lole Mezini, accomplished soprano diva; Eralda Hitaj, Miss Albania and other surprise guests.
NAAC is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to advocating for Albanians and promoting peace and economic development in the Balkans by fostering democratic policy, promoting respect for human rights, and conducting educational and developmental programs.
