A ship dating from the IIIrd or IVth century was found in the Albanian coast, north of Sarand롡 few days ago. According to the project coordinator of the Albanian-American team of Underwater Archaeology, Auron Tare, the state of conservation is remarkable. The Albanian-American expedition of submarine archeology has recently begun its new season of exploration in the waters of the Ionian Sea.
The ship wreck is believed to date from the end of the Roman time to the beginning of Byzantium and the well-conserved amphora are believed to come from the North of Africa.
The discovery of the ship is the seventh finding of the bilateral expedition in the three years of its existence. The project brings together the RPM Nautical Foundation and the Albanian Institute of Archaeolog
