From 3rd to 8th of August

The city of Prizren in Kosovo, hosted the “DokuFest” film festival, which started on the 3rd of August and ended on the 8th of August 2009. This is the eighth edition of the festival. DokuFest has run since ŠIt is one of the main international film festivals held in the Albanian world and one of the major events in the world of film and cinematography in the Balkans. The name of DokuFest originally comes from Documentary film festival. But documentary films are not the only ones the festival highlights.
During the week a total of 184 films will be shown. The films and their authors come from 36 countries. They will be documentary films, short films and animation films. In all, 133 films will be shown in the main program, while 51 others will be shown in the “DokuKids” program, the part of the program which is dedicated to children and youth.
One of the participating films is a short film with screenplay by Selatin Ademi and Agim Apolloni directed by Dalmat Dobra. Standard (28.07.2009) publishes an interview with Selatin Ademi who is also a distinguished film director. He suggests that the Albanian film culture lacks a blockbuster and speaks of the absence of an overall Albanian strategy to produce such a film.
Ademi regrets the “Ƭack of cooperation between Albania and Kosovo, which as important film centers should propose to realize together a big-budget film, which could be presented in big international film festivals and represent the Albanian cultural universe.”
