TIRANA, Aug. 29 – Participation at a meeting of prosecutors’ association in Paris, France served albanian Prosecutor-General Theodhori Sollaku to present to his counterparts casettes with speeches and acusation made against him by Prime Minister Sali Berisha. Sollaku had prepared the tapes translating all the speeches into English and also including his reposnses made at the investigative parliamentary commission and the parliament. Sollaku also presented the casses of other colleagues in Albania who have been removed with the same unfair procedure, according to him. The issue of the annual debate of the association was the independence of prosecutors and this time Sollaku seems to have asked for the assistance of the counterparts in his fight to keep the post.
Sollaku is still expecting the verdict from President Alfred Moisiu. The parliament passed a report July 21 that asked for his removal from the post. The opposition opposed to the report and boycotted the voting. Moisiu has said that he is paying careful consideration to all the documetns involved in the case. Last week he had convened his ‘Council of Wise’ men with senior personalities in different areas to ask for advise in the case.
