A trade fair of Albanian products bringing together producers from Kosovo, Montenegro, Macedonia and Presheva valley was held at the Murat Toptani pedestrian street
TIRANA, March 14 – Albania marked on Tuesday, March 14, the Summer Day, a pagan festival originally celebrated in the city of Elbasan, central Albania, to mark the end of winter. Lots of cultural events will be held both in Tirana and Elbasan and other towns to mark Summer Day, an official holiday for eight years now. Thousands of Albanians rushed to Tirana and Elbasan on this day attending concerts, carnival parades, packing the main streets and boulevards. The traditional cake symbolizing this festival is called Ballokume.
While thousands of people rush to Elbasan, where the holiday originates, celebrations in Tirana are becoming ever bigger since Summer Day was announced a national holiday. With the central boulevard decorated with flowers, the Tirana Municipality organized a series of events which it said attracted visitors also from neighbouring Kosovo, Macedonia and Montenegro. Celebrations were opened with a performance by the Tirana City Band which marched from the Municipality building in the capital’s central square to the Mother Teresa square.

Held under the slogan “I consume Albanian products” the trade fair showcased 100 Albanian companies which will promote 100 products for 100 days on the Albanian centenary independence in several Albanian-speaking cities in the region.
“I invite Tirana citizens and visitors from elsewhere to visit this fair, to get to know the products of this fair, get to know each other and give a new impetus to the Albanian products and consumption in Southeast Europe, Balkans and wherever Albanians live,” said Tirana Mayor Lulzim Basha.
Several other events singing and children’s performances were held in different venues.
Several other Albanian cities such as Durres, Berat, Lezha held events.
