Having started with participation in the Fifth Edition of the Poeteca (International Poetry Festival) held throughout Albania from the 21st to the 27th of September, the days of the Spanish Cultural Autumn in Albania will pursue their course till the 18th of December.
CINEMA
Spanish films participated in the International Human Rights Film Festival Albania (IHRFFA) held at the Film and Multimedia Academy “Marubi” in Tirana from the 29th of September to the 3rd of October.
On the 13, 14, 15, 20, 21 and 22 of October at 19:00 will show the VIIIth Week of the Spanish Cinema, titled “In transition”. The films will be shown at Imperial Cinema, at Hotel Sheraton.
Spanish films will also participate in the Tirana International Film Festival (TIFF) that will be held in the capital of Albania from the 27th of November to the 6th of December.
LETTERS
The renowned international literary award Prince of Asturias – Man of Letters will be handed to the Albanian celebrated writer Ismail Kadare on the 23rd of October in Oviedo, Spain (see on the attribution of the prize former Tirana Times issues).
The play “The house of Bernarda Alba” from Spanish renowned writer Frederico Garcia Lorca, will show at the National theater in Tirana on the 11th of October, at 19:30.
Spanish poetess Blanca Andreu participated in the Fifth Edition of the Poeteca (International Poetry Festival) held throughout Albania from the 21st to the 27th of September (see interview on former Tirana Times issues).
PHOTOGRAPHY
Jordi Socias, a Spanish photographer, will have a retrospective exhibition at the National Art Gallery in Tirana running from the beginning of October to the middle of November.
INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCES
On the 25th of September, 30th of October, 20th of November and 11th of December a series of four international conferences will be organized in Albania on the theme “Transitions in the Mirror: A compared view of the processes of democratic transformation in Spain and in Albania”.
MUSIC
On the occasion of the National Feast of Spain, on the 12th of October a concert titled “Spain on the Pentagrame” will be held at the National Theater in Tirana, under the direction of the Albanian Director Fatos Qerimaj.
On the morrow, 13 October, on the halls of the City Lounge a musical fiesta will take place named “Tirana me mata: Vivir la movida” (Tirana kills me: Living “la movida” – a musical movement”) coined after the name of a renowned Madrilene group “Madrid me mata” (Madrid kills me).
HISPANIC STUDIES
A number of other cultural events will be organized at the Department of Hispanic studies of the University of Tirana who will receive anew assistance from Spanish Embassy and Spanish educational institutions.
During the days of the Spanish Cultural Autumn in Albania itinerant activities will be organized throughout the country to promote the Spanish culture and its contacts with the Albanian society.
