“The Trojans” to Butrint

TIRANA, Feb.29- One of the masterpieces of ancient Greek author Euripides ‘The Trojans’ will have its premiere this summer in the ancient stage of the Butrinti amphitheater. The Greek director, Vangjelis Theodhoropulos, has chosen this work of the Greek drama saying that it remains actual for the dynamics observed in the Balkans. Butrinti rises new fantastical; elements for this director as the history tells us that Trojans after the war emigrated to this place before passing to the future roman lands. “The son of Achilles, Neoptolemi, brought to Butrinti Andromaka who after his death got married to Helenos, The drama closes with the departure of the Trojans to become slaves in the Greek houses. The issue that si still an open wound to the Balkans is war driven emigration and the uprooting of people. This is the first experience of the Greek director with Albanian artists of dimensions such as Margarita Xhepa. Vangjelis Theodhoropulos is the director of the “Neos Cosmos” theater in Greece. The work is translated into Albanian by the poet Romeo ȯllaku.
