TIRANA, Oct. 12, 2022 – A clash between two Albanian families at a cafe in the small town of Klos left three people dead and two wounded on Wednesday, police said.

Though reports are only preliminary at this time, it appears that conflict started due to advances made by a teenage boy on a teenage girl on the social media platform Instagram.

Representatives of both families had met at a local bar to discuss the matter when a quarrel turned into a deadly shootout.

The father of the girl had demanded the couple marry, although they both are minors — local media reported the boy to be 17 and the girl 16.

When the other side refused the request, the girl’s father shot dead the boy and his father. Two people sitting at a nearby table were wounded in the shootout. The girl’s father then left the scene and took his own life a little later, local media reported.

Klos is a rural town of about 15,000 located in the region of Mat northeast of Tirana.
