TIRANA, Sep. 16 – Albania’s Foreign Ministry on Monday hailed the agreement reached last week in Geneva, Switzerland between the United States and Russia on the elimination of the chemical weapons stockpiles in Syria.
“The implementation of this agreement paves the way for a rapid and secure elimination of the Syria’s chemical weapons program as well as for the continuation of further efforts by the international community to find an all-embracing political solution to the conflict in Syria,” it says.
The ministry repeated thatAlbania endorses all international community initiatives, which are aimed at putting an end to bloodshed in Syria and at the creation of conditions to transfer power to the new constructive forces, to build a democratic system based on the values of freedom, equality, human dignity and respect for human rights.
Tirana has also said that it will support without condition any decision taken from U.S. President Barack Obama, even if that is a military intervention.
