Two days ago the curtain dropped on the third edition of “The Tirana Music Festival,” which saw several concerts performed at the Academy of Arts. Italian pianist Mauro Bertoli was on stage on Sunday with a concert recital for piano. The public warmly greeted the brilliant performance by the Italian pianist who interpreted a rich selection of pieces from works of world renown by Beethoven, Liszt, Schumann and others. Bertoli won first prize in the second edition of the “Premio Pianiostico Internazionale,” and also the special “A.Benedetti-Michalangeli” award. The “Tirana Music Festival” is organized by the Musical Academy of Umbria in cooperation with the Acedmy of Arts and the Italian Institute of Culture. First of all this targets young and talented Albanian artists, students at the Academy of Arts in Tirana, or at other schools, but also Italian musicians, or other foreign artists who wish to study under the best of teachers and exchange artistic experience with Albanian artists. As occurred in the two previous editions, the Musical Academy of Umbria placed at the disposal of the Albanian participants in the “Tirana Music Festival” three study scholarships to the Superior School of Music of the International Musical Academy for 2009 as well as five study scholarships to the venues of the 2009 Umbria International Summer Festival, in cooperation with the Italian Institute of Culture. The organizer of the festival was the well known Piero Vinenti.
