TIRANA, Oct. 13 – All Albanian television stations opened their newscasts Wednesday with the images of a Serb hooligan in Genoa, Italy burning the Albanian flag and chanting anti-Kosovo slogans.
The Euro 2012 qualifier between host Italy and Serbia was cancelled seven minutes after it started and 17 persons were injured in the fight of the Italian police with the Serb hooligans.
Serb authorities apologized to the Italian authorities.
Meanwhile Italian police and also UEFA have started investigation of the case.
True that the Serb hooligan seemed to have directed its anger towards Kosovo. But he did burn the Albanian flag. True that is used informally by Kosovo but it formally belongs to Albania. Tirana has largely remained silent about the flag burning.
